A Swedish pediatrician is sparking debate after saying some refugees claiming to be unaccompanied minors are lying about their age. He even deems some of them to be as old as 40.
“There are only a few cases of course, but they have definitely been between 30 and 40 years old,” Pediatrician Josef Milerad was quoted by Swedish tabloid Expressen as saying.
Some 31,000 asylum-seeking refugees are currently registered with the Swedish Migration Agency as unaccompanied minors. But according to Milerad, that number is likely larger than it should be, as he alleges some of those people claim to be much younger than they actually are in order to be granted asylum more easily.
According to Milerad, the tests carried out by Swedish authorities to verify the real age of a child are naïve and insufficient, and he advocates for the tests to be done medically, including through x-rays.
“The refugee children who are in their early and mid-teens are the ones who end up paying the price for this [lying]. These are resources that have been earmarked for children, but it’s used for another age group,” he told the newspaper.
Milerad said that he has examined several people that the migration agency has classed as children, but that according to his own professional opinion almost 40 percent of them are in fact between 20 and 25 years old, and some of them even near their forties.
“I think that my professional opinion, even if I can’t support it with evidence, would turn out to be quite accurate – there is a difference between a 16-year-old and a 20-year-old,” he said.

Notting Hill Carnival – 454 arrests across two days, 43 officers injured and eight taken to hospital, five members of the public stabbed. Oh, and while we’re on the subject: Cost of Glastonbury to the taxpayer – almost nothing. Cost of the carnival to the taxpayer – at least £7m.
It is another, perfectly formed, example of BLMUK’s delusion. They are barking up not merely the wrong tree, but a tree which does not exist.

Hillary Clinton was already having a bad week as polls show Donald Trump closing the gap between them and, in a few polls, even pulling ahead. It got worse Friday after the FBI released Clinton's answers to investigators' questions over her use of a private email server, revealing some pretty damaging responses from the former Secretary of State.
Here are five of the most outrageous statements Clinton made in that three-and-a-half hour FBI interview:
1. She cited her 2012 concussion as the reason that she cannot remember details of briefings during her "transition out of office."
2. She said she never even thought whether emails she exchanged on a future U.S. drone attack should be classified.
3. She said she thought the "C" before a paragraph indicated alphabetical order. The C actually stands for "classified."
4. She said no one ever raised concerns to her about her use of a private email server.
5. She said she could not recall any training on how to handle classified information.
What's more, Clinton aides told the FBI that the Secretary of State frequently replaced her Blackberry phone and the whereabouts of her old device would become "unknown." The FBI report suggests there were at least 13 different devices used.
You're going to hear on the mainstream media all weekend a lot of supposedly objective pundits insist the above revelations offer no "smoking gun." And that may be true from a legal standpoint, but we're in the middle of an election and these statements are poison for Clinton and cannon fodder for Donald Trump.
She conducted official State Department business while suffering from a concussion that may have impaired her memory? The report suggested she was only working for a few hours a day at the point based on doctor's orders but if it was that bad that she couldn't remember important briefings, she should have been on medical leave.
No. 2 stretches the limits of credulity. We're supposed to believe Clinton never even considered a discussion about a future drone attack should be kept secret? Saying "I never thought," basically sounds like a dodge on a charge of possible pre-meditation.
As for the claim that no one ever talked to her about any concerns about the private server, that's dangerous territory. Because it's probably not going to be hard to find someone at the State Department, or formerly at the State Department, to contradict this claim. In fact, there are many statements just now released from this FBI interview that are likely going to be refuted and in short order.
The "I could not recall" response to the question about prior training is a classic defendant's dodge. It works great because even if Clinton did get training, it can be argued that it doesn't matter because she doesn't remember it. But while it's a good legal dodge, it's potentially lethal in the midst of an election where you're trying to look like a competent and alert leader.
FBI Director James Comey may have decided not to indict Clinton, but the public revelation of this transcript today does a lot of damage. While you can expect most of the mainstream media pundits to pour cold water on the severity of the facts contained in them, the transcripts put the email scandal right back into the center of the news cycle. The last time that happened, Clinton's poll numbers wilted badly and it took a series of Trump missteps to reverse the decline.
She was already slipping in the polls — this could turn out to be very damaging for her and very good for Trump.

Tarmac altercation, press dispute mar opening of Obama's trip to China
President Barack Obama's trip to China for the G20 summit Saturday opened with an unusual tarmac altercation involving Chinese and U.S. officials, including national security adviser Susan Rice.
After Air Force One landed in Hangzhou, a Chinese official began shouting at White House staff after the traveling American press contingent was brought onto the tarmac, according to pool reports.
The Chinese official also attempted to block Rice and Deputy National Security Adviser Ben Rhodes after they lifted a blue rope holding back press and walked to the other side of it, closer to Obama.
The press pool was brought under a wing of Air Force One where the pool was supposed to stay behind a blue rope. However, a member of the Chinese delegation began shouting at White House staff, demanding the pool leave the arrival scene.
A White House official said Obama was our president and Air Force One was our plane and that the press was not going to move from the designated area. The Chinese official responded, "This is our country."
When asked later what happened at the airport, Rice said, "They did things that weren't anticipated."
Disagreements between Chinese and American officials did not just stay on the tarmac.
At Westlake Statehouse, where the summit was being held, a group of White House staff arriving before Obama was stopped at a security checkpoint.
A heated argument between Chinese officials and White House staff, protocol officers and Secret Service, who were trying to enter the building separately from the press, broke out at the security gate.
According to the pool report, U.S. officials could be heard arguing in Chinese with Chinese officials over how many Americans could go through security at one time, how many White House officials were allowed to be in the building before Obama's arrival, and which U.S. officials were on a security list.
"The president is arriving here in an hour," a White House staffer was overheard saying in exasperation.
A Chinese official assisting the U.S. officials became angered by how the guards were treating the White House staff as the disagreement escalated.
"You don't push people. No one gave you the right to touch or push anyone around," he yelled in Chinese at one of the Chinese security officials.
Another Chinese official trying to help White House staff stepped between the two men arguing, as the security official looked like he was going to throw a punch, according to the pool report.
"Calm down, please. Calm down," a White House official said.
"Stop, please," said a foreign ministry official in Chinese. "There are reporters here."
Another disagreement occurred when officials and press finally made it inside the building. Chinese officials told White House press officers that only 10 American journalists were allowed in.
"That's not right," a White House press official said.
Two U.S. journalists were left outside and were not allowed to stand in the room, despite White House press officials insisting there was space.
"There's space. They are print reporters. They would just be just standing," one White House press officer said. The two reporters were eventually granted access.
Some three-and-a-half hours after Obama and Chinese President Xi Jinping began their bilateral talks, the two leaders were expected to end their talk with a nighttime stroll through the diplomatic compound on West Lake to Obama's motorcade, with a cadre of reporters in tow.

Germany’s economy minister says free-trade talks between the European Union and the United States have failed.
Negotiations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) have made little progress in recent years.
Sigmar Gabriel, who is also Germany’s vice-chancellor, said: “In my opinion the negotiations with the United States have de facto failed, even though nobody is really admitting it.”
He noted that in 14 rounds of talks the two sides had not agreed on a single common chapter out of 27 being discussed.
Mr Gabriel compared the TTIP negotiations unfavourably with a free-trade deal forged between the EU and Canada, which he said was fairer for all sides.
If reached, the deal could encompass almost half the global economy, potentially generating €92 billion in added output for the EU and US.

Over 2 million charges laid with police in the last year
Cape Town – The majority of some 2 million charges laid at police stations in the last year were reported by the community, as opposed to being detected by police, Parliament heard on Friday.
Around 1.7 million charges (83%) were serious crimes reported by South Africans between April 2015 and March this year, crime research and statistics head Major General Norman Sekhukhune told Parliament´s police portfolio committee.
Police detected the remaining 17%.
Contact crimes (crimes against a person) constituted the most charges, at 35.2%.
This was followed by property-related crimes (30.7%), other serious crimes (27%) and contact-related crimes (7%).
Contact-related crimes were arson and malicious damage to property cases.
Sekhukhune said the overall analysis depicted notable progress in reducing community-reported crimes.
He confirmed the statistics report was quality assessed by the technical working team, composed of Stats SA and police members.

Cape Town - The murder rate in South Africa increased by 4.9% for the period 2015/16, according to the latest crime statistics released on Friday.
"It still seems to be a problematic crime that we are facing," Major General Norman Sekhukhune, head of police crime research and statistics, told Parliament´s police portfolio committee.
Murders happened mostly indoors, among people known to each other. Alcohol abuse was prominent in such crimes.
The only province to have shown a decrease in the murder rate was the Northern Cape, with a drop of 9.9%.
Sexual offences decreased by 3.2%.
Robbery with aggravating circumstances increased by 2.7%, while common assault went up 2.2%.
