George Foreman’s Daughter Freeda Reportedly Commits Suicide
Heavyweight champion George Foreman’s daughter Freeda has died at age 42 of an apparent suicide at her Texas home, reportedly of a hanging. The evidence at the scene suggests that Foreman, who was a boxer herself, took her own life, but a coroner will have to make the final determination.
A spokesperson for the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office in Texas told TMZ that indications are that Foreman sadly took her own life. Law enforcement officials with knowledge of the investigation say that Freeda appears to have died by asphyxiation, and “all signs point to hanging.”
Freeda Foreman is survived by her husband, two daughters, three grandchildren, 11 siblings, and her parents.
CNN reported that George Foreman, or Big George as he is known around the Foreman home (his sons are all named George, too), tweeted a message about the passing of his beloved Freeda, saying that it would be his first Sunday in years without her.
“Daddy I want to box, ‘Get an Education first’ I said, well she Brought The bacon home (degree) 2 kids 3 grands (husband),” he said in a tweet. “She’s with her maker now. 10 kids forever. Just 1 more day I wanted OK 1 more year aw 1 more decade.”
The father of 12 also posted a picture embracing Freeda at her college graduation along with her commencement program and her honors sash.

- President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen was given a two-month extension for his scheduled date to surrender to federal prison.
- Cohen will now have to surrender to prison on May 6 to begin a three-year sentence, Judge William Pauley ordered.
- Cohen's attorney requested the delay, citing the fact that Cohen had "recently underwent a serious surgical procedure" and needs to prepare for testimony to three Congressional committees by the end of February.
President Donald Trump's former personal lawyer Michael Cohen was granted a two-month extension of his prison surrender date Wednesday after his attorney cited his need to continue recovering from recent shoulder surgery, and to prepare for upcoming testimony before three congressional committees.
Cohen, 52, will now enter federal prison May 6 to begin his three-year sentence, Judge William Pauley ordered.
Cohen was originally set to begin that sentence March 6. He pleaded guilty last year to financial crimes, lying to Congress and campaign violations related to hush money payments made to two alleged sexual partners of Trump's.
The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, one of two entities that prosecuted Cohen, did not oppose the "one-time" extension of his surrender date given his medical condition, according to Cohen's lawyer, Michael Monico.
A spokesman for Southern District prosecutors, as well as for special counsel Robert Mueller, Cohen's other prosecutor, declined to comment to CNBC.
Monico, in a letter to Pauley requesting the 60-day delay, cited the fact that Cohen "recently underwent a serious surgical procedure and he needs to undergo intensive post-surgical physical therapy and be monitored by his physician for recovery."
Monico also noted that Cohen "also anticipates being called to testify before three ... Congressional committees at the end of" February.
"Doing so will required Mr. Cohen to spend substantial time in preparation that will limit the time he has to get his affairs in order and spend time with his family, especially given such a short period between the anticipated hearings and the present reporting date," Monico wrote.
Cohen is set to testify Feb. 28 before the House Intelligence Committee. That hearing will be be closed to the public.
He is also committed to testifying at a closed session of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and in a public session of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The dates for those other two hearings have not been released.
Spokesmen for all three committees did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
Cohen since last year has been cooperating with Mueller's ongoing investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 president election and issues related to the Trump campaign.
Mueller's office had charged Cohen with lying to Congress about details of an aborted plan to build a Trump Tower in Moscow.
Cohen admitted that he misled Congress about the date when that plan was dropped and about the extent of Trump's personal involvement in the deal.
Cohen had originally claimed the project was abandoned much earlier in 2016, when Trump was running for the Republican nomination for president, than when it actually was dropped. He also falsely said that Trump was less involved in the effort than the president actually was, according to Cohen's guilty plea.
Cohen has also admitted facilitating hush money payments to two women, porn star Stormy Daniels and Playboy model Karen McDougal, at the direction of Trump in 2016 to keep them quiet about their alleged affairs with president a decade earlier. Cohen has said the goal of those payments was to avoid the women's stories affecting the election that year.
The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York is continuing to investigate those payments. That inquiry, and others related to Trump by the same office, is seen as a serious legal threat to Trump.
Trump has denied having sex with either woman, and has also denied any other wrongdoing.

Celebrity lawyer Michael Avenatti, the subject of two separate criminal investigations, was arrested Monday in New York, where federal prosecutors in the Southern District charged him with attempting to extort more than $20 million from Nike.
In an unrelated case, the U.S. attorney in Los Angeles charged him with embezzlement, bank and tax fraud.
Avenatti, who represented porn star Stormy Daniels in a lawsuit against President Trump that sought to free her from a nondisclosure agreement, faces a maximum sentence of 47 years in prison for the charges filed in New York, and another 50 years for those filed in California.
“This was an old-fashioned shakedown,” Geoffrey Berman, U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York told reporters at a Monday press conference.
Detailing a plot hatched only a week ago, Berman said Avenatti approached Nike on March 19, the eve of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament and ahead of the company’s quarterly earning’s call, saying he represented a client who coached a high school basketball team.
According to the indictment, Avenatti told Nike’s lawyers he had evidence of illegal payments by the company to student athletes. He threatened to publicize these at a press conference, and demanded millions of dollars, for his client and himself, in exchange for keeping quiet.
Nike, Berman said, contacted law enforcement and the FBI then recorded all subsequent conversations between Nike lawyers and Avenatti.
On March 20, prosecutors said, Avenatti further detailed his threat.
“I’ll go take 10 billion dollars off your client’s market cap. ... I’m not f***ing around,” Avenatti told Nike’s lawyers, according to the complaint.
“The entire scheme played out in less than a week,” Berman said, who added that Avenatti “was seeking money for himself.”
As the discussions between the two parties continued, Avenatti posted a tweet that Berman said was meant as a warning to Nike.

(CNN)In a span of a week, there have been three suicides that shared a connection.
Two were young survivors of the massacre at the school in Parkland, Florida, and one was a parent of a child who was killed in the Sandy Hook shooting. The two communities are facing a new facet of grief after three people connected to the shootings took their own lives in a matter of days.
Here's a look at their stories.
Jeremy Richman
Jeremy Richman, 49, was the father of 6-year-old Avielle Richman, who was among 20 children and six adults killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting in Newtown, Connecticut.
After the shooting, Richman co-founded The Avielle Foundation, a nonprofit named for his daughter that focuses on violence prevention through research and community engagement.
He died of an apparent suicide and was found in his Connecticut office building Monday morning, Newtown police said.
"Jeremy's mission will be carried on by the many who love him, including many who share the heartache and trauma that he has suffered since December 14, 2012. We are crushed to pieces, but this important work will continue, because, as Jeremy would say, we have to," the foundation said.
Sydney Aiello
Sydney Aiello, a 2018 graduate of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, survived the attack on Valentine's Day 2018 that killed 17 people at the Parkland, Florida, school.
Aiello, a Florida Atlantic University student, suffered from survivor's guilt and had been diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, her mom told CNN affiliate WFOR. She graduated just months after the shooting.
She killed herself on March 17 and her funeral was Friday in Davie, Florida.

On Saturday, a Stoneman Douglas student died in what police describe as "an apparent suicide." The student has not been publicly identified.
It's unclear under what circumstances the student died, or whether the apparent suicide was related to last year's massacre.
The news of the student's death came as the Parkland community is mourning Aiello and prompted discussions among community leaders, the school district and parents about how to address what trauma survivors are facing.

The father of one of the children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings was found dead Monday of an apparent suicide in Newtown, Conn., police there said.
The body of 49-year-old Jeremy Richman, the father of Avielle Richman, was found inside Edmond Town Hall early Monday. Police responded to a report of a suicide around 7 a.m. ET. According to the Newtown Bee, he was reportedly found in the stage area of the building, which was undergoing renovations.
Newtown Police said Richman’s body was transported to the Connecticut medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. While the cause of death remains under investigation, it appears to be a suicide, police said.
“This is a heartbreaking event for the Richman family and the Newtown community as a whole,” Newtown Police Lt. Aaron Bahamonde said in a statement. “The police department’s prayers are with the Richman family right now, and we ask that the family be given privacy in this most difficult time.”
Richman’s apparent suicide follows the deaths in the last week of two teenage survivors of the deadly 2018 shootings at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.
On March 17, Sydney Aiello, a 19-year-old graduate of Marjory Stoneman, died in an apparent suicide, her family and friends said. Aiello, who was a senior at the school when the shooting occurred, was friends with Meadow Pollack, one of 17 who died in the Feb. 14, 2018, massacre. On Saturday, police in Coral Springs, Fla., said they were investigating an apparent suicide involving a current student at the school. According to the Miami Herald, the victim was a sophomore boy.
Avielle Richman, 6, was one of 20 children killed on Dec. 14, 2012, at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Jeremy Richman, a neuroscientist, and his wife launched a charitable foundation in Avielle’s memory to “fund research exploring the underpinnings of the brain that lead to violent behaviors.”
“My wife Jennifer and I are infinitely heart broken,” he wrote on the foundation’s website. “In the years since the murder of our beautiful six year old daughter, our heartbreak has been repeated with hundreds of school shootings in the United States, not to mention the daily occurrences of homicide and suicide on our streets and in our homes.”
